Does The One Exist?

No.

There are certain types of people that mold well together and there are certain types of people who repel one another. Is there only one, true person for each of us? Imagine the astronomical odds that would have to be overcome to have those two people meet if this were true.

If two people want to be together, they will make it work. Plain and simple. If you want to be with someone, you will put forth the effort necessary to establish a relationship. If you’re not willing to put forth that effort, then why are you still with that person?

I’m not jaded. I’m simply a realist. It is not possible that there is only one person out there for me. This would require The One to not only be alive at the same time as me but it would also require that we live in close proximity so that we meet one another at the right times in our lives. This is simply not possible.

There are people you want to be with so you make it work. People often look back at past relationships and think their One got away. I disagree.

The One that got away is not real, it’s a fake memory of what you thought the future would be like with this person. That person does not exist, at least not the way you’ve romanticized them in your head. You can’t keep trying to find The One.

The One is a myth. If you keep chasing The One, you will end up with only one: you. That is the only truth in the myth of The One. No real person can possibly live up to the unattainable expectations you’ve created in your head.

You must stop living in a dream world and see the person in front of you. Stop setting unreachable expectations for the fantasy of The One. You will search forever and ultimately end up alone. Don’t settle but don’t pass everyone by because you don’t think they’re The One.
