Desire or Desperation

He desired her. He was desperate for her. Which one was it? Or could it be both? He could not yet know.

She came into his life like a leaf sailing with the wind. She just appeared. And like a breeze that pushes a leaf into you, he was startled by her.

He wanted to know how she came to be where they met. He wanted to know her journey.

Immediately, he saw the beauty within her. She was intelligent, whimsical and original. He desired to know more about her. He was desperate to know more about her.

She provided him with excitement, frenzy and tantalizing emotion. He provided her the adoration such an eccentric personality garners. He thought he showed her his desire. What she saw was his desperation.

Just as quickly as the breeze brought her to him, the breeze took her away and he was left standing there, desperately longing for the breeze to bring him another leaf.
